National Night Out
On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, the Springfield Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Target Corporation, will again sponsor the annual “Crime Prevention and National Night Out” celebration. National Night out is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention;
2. Generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts;
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and Police-Community partnerships; and
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know Springfield residents are organized and committed to keeping Springfield Township a safe place to live and work.
On the evening of August 2nd, from 6 PM to 9 PM, the area residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on exterior lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and Police Officers. This event will be held at the Springfield Township Country Club Pool, located at 400 West Sproul Road. The pool will be open that night to all Township residents so they may spend the evening with family and neighbors. Several hundred residents attended the event last year which will again be covered by Media Outlets including Channel 6 Action News, Daily Times, and the Springfield Press. The event will include:
· Live Music by “The Third Floor” Band
· Food and drinks donated by local merchants
· Raffle prizes including a large flat screen TV, Phillies Tickets and more (All proceeds to benefit the DELCO Hero Scholarship Fund)
· Special guest appearances by the Phillie Phanatic, Swoop and the Eagles Cheerleaders
· Police and Fire apparatus on display
· Children’s activities
· Representatives from Local and County Organizations/Agencies on hand to provide Crime Prevention and Health information
